Split

Split is the second biggest city in Croatia and one of the most beautiful. The old town is dominated by Diocletian´s powerful palace with its high towers. The palace was built in the end of 200th century by the Roman emperor Diocletianus. It took 10 years to finish. Today the palace is a part of the city.

A “must see” is the clock tower, where you can enter and climb up the dark and narrow stairs and enjoy the wonderful view over the city and the sea. Streets and squares are bejeweled by expensive marble from Greece and Italy. The old town is “car free” and full of bars, cafés, small boutiques and restaurants.

One beautiful building after another and the city oozes history. Another meeting place is the RIVA, (harbor walk) where you also will find plenty of restaurants, cafés and nice bars.

Ferries to the biggest islands goes from here. The biggest ferry company is Jadrolinija.
